The Marketing Committee will continue to fine tune their direction by use of defined goals and objectives. Our initial mission statement is as follows:
To promote a vibrant, healthy, balanced and safe environment for all persons within town limits. This is inclusive of families, full-time residents, business owners, guests, part-time owners and all others who live, visit or vacation in Dewey Beach.
The Marketing Committee will most likely be forming sub-committees in the coming days in order to maintain momentum with several important town initiatives. These initiatives are:
1. Continue and advance the beautification efforts that have been on-going by a select few. There are many persons to acknowledge in these efforts; however some of the initial efforts responsible for getting this started are traced back to the Dewey Beach Civic League.
2. Develop a more comprehensive plan to promote the plethora of town attributes such as its beaches, bays, restaurants and special events. To work in close conjunction with our Chamber of Commerce, the Dewey Beach Civic League and the Dewey Marketing Group to coordinate efforts and garner the resources necessary to implement this comprehensive marketing plan. For example, Ocean City, MD proposes 25 events every year and then meets in the fall to grade the successfulness of each event. It then ranks the 25, eliminates the bottom five and adds five new ones every year.
3. Contain noise within town by implementing a comprehensive solution that will curtail all noise sources, such as:
a. Roving groups on the street
b. Businesses
c. Group beach houses
d. Other sources
4. Improve our understanding and handling of trash and litter on our streets and provide aesthetically pleasing receptacles to offer the town’s guests and to encourage proper behavior and utilization of our waste disposal process.
5. Improve our understanding and handling of the public intoxication that occurs within town limits. Work in conjunction with our police force and business community to promote policies that will not only be effective but that will become the norm within the town limits of Dewey Beach.
