Volunteer for DIB

Dewey in Bloom is a volunteer-based organization. We welcome all volunteers who would like to donate their time to this beautification project in Dewey Beach. Are you interested in volunteering? Submit your information below and a volunteer coordinator will be in touch with you!

WHAT DOES MY COMMITMENT INVOLVE?

You'll be assigned to a planter box(es) by our volunteer coordinator. Care of the box may involve installation of soil/peat, planting flowers, weeding, removing trash or debris from the box, watering, or pruning. Expect to provide care for your planter box approximately once per week. We also welcome extra help for our fall and spring planting days, when the bloom boxes must be cleaned out of old plants and replanted. 

CAN I WORK WITH A TEAM?

We welcome groups of individuals to work together! However, you may also volunteer alone. We'd be happy to pair you with other volunteers as well. Dewey in Bloom provides a great opportunity to meet new people and work together to beautify our town.

ARE THERE OTHER WAYS TO HELP?

Can't commit to volunteering? You can still help in DIB's goal of making Dewey Beach beautiful:

• Don't dispose of trash or cigarettes in the boxes. Do not put stickers, chalk or paint on the boxes.
• If you see trash or debris in a planter box, remove it and dispose of it properly.
• Educate others about the Dewey in Bloom initiative and encourage them to get involved.
• If you see damage, missing sponsor signage, or graffiti to a bloom box, contact the town.
