Do you have skills and experience that you could share in helping to improve Dewey Beach? Would you like to play a more active role in your town government?
The Town of Dewey Beach is in search of a volunteer to serve as the chairperson for the Charter & Code Review Committee. The focus of this committee is to develop recommendations for updating, clarifying, and improving both the Town Charter and Code to enhance their interpretation, application, and relevance to current and future town operations and services.
With the recent State approval of a revised Charter based on the Committee’s work, current objectives will be to identify sections of the Code that are out-of-date, contradictory, or require a fresh assessment to ensure that interpretation and application of the provisions of the Charter and Code are clear and consistent. The Committee shall prioritize its recommendations reflecting the importance to the Town of the issues to be addressed. For each recommendation, the Council will determine the need for further development or assignment to a different committee or commission as appropriate.
In addition, the chairperson will be responsible for drafting agendas, managing meetings, and initiating communication between committee members, the commissioner liaison and Town staff to plan and carry out future meetings.
We encourage those interested in this volunteer position to reach out with any questions. Please contact Commissioner Gary Persinger by email at garypersinger@townofdeweybeach. For more information on committee responsibilities and meetings, please click here.
