Congratulations to the 2022 Dewey Beach Volunteer of the Year, Dave Davis!
Dave’s business career began with about 12 years climbing the corporate ladder to middle management followed by several entrepreneurial ventures over the last few decades. He has spent most of his career in healthcare, most recently running a medical device manufacturing company in the hearing care industry for 12 years, from which he retired in 2015. Dave still consults a bit in the medical industry and is currently helping a startup medical software business get itself on a solid operational footing.
Dave and his wife, Trish, have owned their place in Dewey Beach since 2007, and he has since been involved in a number of committees, including Dewey's IT Committee and Policy Committee, two Town Manager Search Committees, and spent two years on Budget & Finance as a member. Budget and Finance was disbanded for a couple of years, and once reinstated, Dave has chaired the committee for three of the last four years. He has also been a member of the Comp Plan Committee for it's major update a few years ago, and has since chaired that committee, and also been a member of the Civic League board for years.
Dave has been a long-time proponent of the town beginning to deal with impending climate change and sea level rise, and the town has now formed a Climate Change Committee to address that, and he is currently chairing that committee. Dave is passionate about making sure that Dewey Beach's way of life can be preserved for the long term, and he believes we need an actionable plan to ensure we can continue to enjoy the town we all love so much.
Dave has a business degree from Ursinus College, and has completed all but his thesis for a Master's degree in Psychology at Harvard University. Dave and Trish live in suburban Philadelphia, but spend much of their time in Dewey Beach in the off season.
Thank you Dave for all you have done, and continue to do, for the Town of Dewey Beach. Congratulations!
