Dewey Beach Weather Update #5
January 29, 2022, 9:00am:
Town of Dewey Beach staff plowed streets until 3am this morning, resuming at 6am. So far every street has been plowed, and these efforts to keep streets clear will continue during the storm. Road conditions are extremely hazardous. Please follow the Governor's order and stay off of the streets. January 28, 2022, 4:00pm:
Governor Carney has issued a State of Emergency for both Kent and Sussex counties in preparation for the storm. A Level 2 Driving Restriction goes into effect at 10:00pm this evening. Click here for a statement from the Sussex County Emergency Operations Center.
January 28, 2022, 12:30pm:
Sussex County is now under a Blizzard Warning and Coastal Flood Advisory in effect from Friday 1/28 at 7:00pm to Saturday 1/29 at 7:00pm.
Snowfall total of 8-12 inches is expected for Sussex County. Sustained winds are estimated at 15-20 mph on Friday, increasing to 20-30mph on Saturday with coastal gusts at 45-50 mph. The Town of Dewey Beach is preparing for forecasted Winter Storm Kenan, predicted to affect our area from Friday evening 1/29 through Saturday, 1/30.
• Town of Dewey Beach Public Works will be clearing all town streets with a snow plow and Kubota Tractor
• Plowing will start Friday night from approximately 8pm to midnight and resume Saturday morning around 6am
• Residents are reminded to have all vehicles and objects off the streets while the town is plowing and removing snow
• The town will be removing all portable crosswalk signs
• If you lose power during this storm please contact DPL at 1-800-898-8042. If you notice downed power lines, please stay away from the area and contact DPL immediately.
